1999. The cover of El País Semanal.
The fact that in June 1999 El País Semanal made us its cover story, under the title "Ferran Adrià, el
mejor cocinero del mundo – the world’s best chef", meant that for the first time, our restaurant monopolised newsstands all over Spain. To put it another
way, this was the first time that were able to "explain" ourselves to the public, in an article in which other chefs also gave their opinion. This
not only gave us great satisfaction, it also undeniably marked a great leap forward in our reputation among other professionals and amateur gastronomes.
